Is it kaizen, change for the better, if the company benefits but another party (employees, suppliers, customers or society) is negatively affected? Even if it was unintended? Does it have to be a game of winner take all or a win/lose situation? Wouldn't a path of mutual prosperity be a better path long term?

One of the things that really struck me when I was in Japan last year was how focused they were on harmony. We were told to do our very best to not disrupt the harmony. So, in this sense, I would think us gaining while someone else lost would be a huge blow to maintaining harmony. Plus, it's mean. So, I say focus on helping everyone win. That's the only way for long term success if you ask me. Thanks for making me think!
Thanks for your comments Ron. I agree with the focus on harmony.
